Great NLP presentation by Joseph Riggio at ANLP conference

Joseph Riggio gave a really good opening presentation to the ANLP conference in London today.

While his theme was on his MythoSelf (TM) process for self discovery he suggested to the delegates that too much time was spent on the 'linguistic' part of 'neuro linguistic programming,' and that language itself could only convey a poor representation of our neurology. The richness of how we are 'at our best' was far greater than language could convey.

The Value of NLP Training for Business - Research project

If you're curious of the reaction of business people to NLP you may be interested in a research project

I kicked off a couple of years after I started PPI Business NLP. I commissioned an independent study to contact our past delegates to confirm the value (or not) of attending our seminars.

Best influence book

Influence Science and Practice by Robert B Cialdini,Robert is Professor of psychology at Arizona State University and this is probably the best and best researched book on influence.

It suggests that when people make decisions quickly they are likely to be influenced by one or more of the following:

• Reciprocation - on which a lot of networking is based
• Commitment and consistency - we can be trusted
• Social proof - Everyone else seems to be doing it
• Liking - We like the person
• Authority - A respected person/institution says its good
• Scarcity - We'll be special if we have one
